Elementary Schools

Communities In Schools of Tacoma needs reading and math tutors in our elementary schools! 

We are in serious need of community support for our reading and math programs.  Each of our programs has up to 25 students enrolled, and our volunteer numbers are well below that.  While it is possible for us to operate with low volunteer numbers, our students benefit most from a one-on-one relationship with an adult tutor.

Please consider joining us as a reading or math tutor.  You will be making a difference in the life of a child.

Programs run from 4-5 pm.

High Schools

Our high school students also need your guidance. Consider becoming a Graduation Coach, an adult mentor who is a stable and caring adult in the life of a young person who may never have experienced a relationship like this.  This program runs at Oakland High School, Mt. Tahoma High School and Tacoma Business Academy.  Please Contact CIS of Tacoma if you are interested in volunteering in one of these schools.
