Why We Do What We Do: A safe, supportive and healthy school environment is crucial to effective student learning. That's why CIS of Tacoma works so hard to connect local community resources to the children in our schools. Our goal is to reduce the negative impacts of health and economic problems while delivering what we call, "The five basics."
Program Goals:
Improve family involvement with the school and community
Increase healthy lifestyle behavior choices
Increase volunteer mentors
Increase student academic achievement
Increase the number of one-on-one relationships between students and caring adults
Increase relationships between the schools and our valued business partners

We served over 5,000 students through a variety of services
95% of the students in our reading program increased their scores
133 students graduated who otherwise would have dropped out
